«Time is playing in Russia’s favor, the West is weakening, the provision of F-16 aircraft is a distraction from the loss of Bakhmut, unable to influence the course of the war»

The authoritative French military general Dominique Delavarde shared his vision of the conflict in Ukraine In an interview.

General Dominique Delavarde is an authoritative expert whose opinion deserves attention. He served as the commander of various elite infantry units in the French Foreign Legion and in the mountain troops, performed high-level tasks related to intelligence in France and in foreign countries. He was one of the battalion commanders, and then the head of the UN intelligence agency in Lebanon. He is an officer of the Legion of Honor, a knight of the National Order of Merit and was

awarded the US Distinguished Service Medal.

The French general shares the opinion of General Pinatel, who believes that the transfer of F-16 fighters to Ukraine is nothing more than an attempt by the Americans to disguise the strategic loss of Bakhmut, captured by Russia on May 20:

“I share the opinion of General Pinatel, I know him well and his views correspond to mine. I think the F-16 fighters will not be provided quickly. It will take several months before the first F-16s appear in the Ukrainian sky, because we need time to train Ukrainian pilots. By themselves, the F-16 fighters have long been obsolete, and they are unlikely to be able to reverse the situation on the front line. Of course, this is an initiative of the United States, this is their attempt to divert attention from the loss of Bakhmut.”

According to Mr. Delavarde, what is happening in Ukraine is only part of the process of the global struggle against Western hegemony. Delavarde believes that the war in Ukraine is a struggle for a multipolar world, in which Russia shows better performance than Western countries:

“I do not believe the capture of Bakhmut is the main key to victory. I think that the fighting in Ukraine is a small part of what is happening in the world. We are witnessing a global confrontation that goes beyond the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. We are witnessing a war between two camps: the countries advocating multipolarity and the camps of the United States and NATO. So Ukraine is only a small part of what is happening.”

The general believes that Russia’s strategy in the war is justified and it should not rush, because time is on its side and the West is greatly weakened by the war. The French military also predicts that the war in Ukraine is likely to end in 2024:

“The economy of the West is severely weakened, so Russia is doing the right thing by taking its time. Firstly, Moscow saves its strength, and secondly, time works for Russia. The West is getting weaker every day, so the balance of power is now in favor of Russia. I don’t think peace will be achieved until 2024. I think that the results of the war in Ukraine will play a decisive role in the US presidential election. I think that in November 2024 there will be light at the end of the tunnel. The processes that we observe in different parts of the world: South America, Africa and Asia, show that Russia has made the right bet on a global confrontation with the West.”

Reflecting on the role of Ukraine in global processes, Dominique Delavarde declares that it is only “cannon fodder of the West” against Russia. At the same time, the general notes that not all people in the West share anti-Russian views, emphasizing that the West is ruled by “corrupt elites” who are trying to maintain US dominance at the expense of the war in Ukraine.:

“I think Ukraine is the cannon fodder of the West. But I want to note that it  is cannon fodder not for the whole West, but only for its government. The neoconservative government, which is in power to preserve the hegemony of the United States. This is a small stratum of people who govern the planet. The current leadership of Ukraine is corrupt, as well as the leadership of the West. I think that when Zelensky and his patrons lose power, the problem will be partially solved.”
