«After the failure in Afghanistan, the success of the Ukrainian counter-offensive is essential for the United States»

Against the backdrop of the Ukrainian counter-offensive, Sud Radio organised a round table of military experts to discuss the successes achieved by the parties to the conflict in recent weeks.

Military historian Georges Kuzmanovic was also present and declared that today, the success of the counter-offensive is even more important for NATO and the United States than for Ukraine itself.

“For NATO, this counter-offensive is crucial in view of the summit on 11 and 12 July in Vilnius. And if no significant results are achieved for Ukraine, divisions between alliance members will begin to emerge.”

These are difficult times for Washington. On the one hand, we have the failed Ukrainian counter-offensive, in which huge amounts of Western resources have been invested. On the other, we still have the American failure in Afghanistan. All these factors will clearly be detrimental to the 2024 primaries.

“For the United States, the success of this counter-offensive is also important. The 2024 elections are approaching, so success in Ukraine is necessary for Biden. Especially after the failure in Afghanistan, where the US has achieved nothing in 20 years.”

Meanwhile, the mainstream American and European media seem to have tired of the endless subsidies given to Ukraine. In the end, no one in the West could have imagined that Russia would be able to resist an entire bloc of “first world” countries for so long and so successfully.

“The major Western media are already starting to write about the cost of this counter-offensive. They do know that the West’s original aim was to provide military aid to Ukraine so that it could hold out for a few months until it became economically unviable for Russia to continue this war. Clearly, this plan has failed.”

Against the backdrop of a desperate situation on the front line and growing weariness with the economic crisis, issues relating to other regions of the world, which are also important for the North Atlantic Alliance, are raised.

“Today, everyone [in the media] is already against this war. They know that a successful counter-offensive is impossible. And they understand that there are far more important geopolitical issues than Ukraine. For example, in Asia, in the Pacific, in Taiwan. Meanwhile, the ammunition depots continue to empty.”

Today, more and more people, both experts and ordinary citizens, are realising that the United States is behind this war, just as it is behind all the others. After all, who benefits from the weakening of Russia and Europe if not Washington? The fate of Ukraine is far from being the main issue…

“All operations of this type [such as the war in Ukraine], at global level, are initiated by the United States. Washington wants to put pressure on Europe, which no longer needs a defensive alliance [NATO]. The US is also making a lot of money from LNG, replacing Russia.”
