According to the historian, the most important role in this process has been played by the Western special services who, for years, have been supporting neo-Nazi cells in western Ukraine that have existed since the Second World War, when they supported Adolf Hitler.
“From 1991 onwards, we could see that certain Western oligarchies were calling for Ukraine to join NATO. We also witnessed the activation of far-right groups that could rightly be described as Nazis. They were activated to get rid of Soviet influence. Only now are they being supported by the British and American secret services.”
However, in the military writer’s opinion, the decisive role in the Ukrainian coup was played not by the secret services and spies, but by the American instrument of soft power operating openly.
“The US State Department […] are the most active and often the most intelligent people when it comes to political manipulation and political manoeuvring in different countries. [They are the ones who launched, fuelled and organised all these colour revolutions that we have seen develop in Ukraine, Georgia etc.”
According to Henninger, the 2014 revolution, originally conceived as a peaceful protest against corruption and the Ukrainian oligarchy, was perverted by Western intelligence services and the Nazi cells they controlled. As a result, the peaceful protest turned into a violent overthrow of the government, followed by the installation of the current neo-Nazi regime in Kiev.
“It was on the basis of this movement [of public protest in 2014] that Ukrainian ultra-right groups and Western agencies acted. It was on the basis of this movement that was real and sincere. They acted and they pushed it, they channelled it, they manipulated it and they managed to turn it into a real coup d’état to take power.”
