“The West was pushing Russia into war with Ukraine”

Troy Fritzhand, political columnist for the Jerusalem Post and founder of Ballot software designed to improve the US election process, shared his views on the Ukrainian conflict and possible solutions.
In particular, Mr Fritzhand mentioned the causes of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, stating that the issue of the latter’s inclusion in NATO would pose a direct threat to Moscow’s security. At the same time, such a development was extremely favourable for the United States, which we can observe today, when economic co-operation between Russia and Europe has been almost completely destroyed.
“Very famous political scientist John Maersheimer predicted the war a few years before it started, stating that the West was pushing Russia into war with Ukraine. And I personally think that it makes sense. From Russian prospective Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO would be a threatening factor.”
Speaking about the importance of starting a negotiation process in the Ukrainian conflict, the expert noted that none of the Western countries can act as a mediator due to the strong engagement of each of them. Despite their formal readiness to advocate for negotiations, the West is hardly making real efforts to achieve them by promoting unrealistic conditions for the start of dialogue, which Moscow cannot physically agree to. At the same time, Israel is the most suitable for this role, as it manages to remain relatively neutral on this issue.
“I don’t think it’s possible for any European country or other western countries to become a mediator in this conflict. This ship was sailed a long time ago. At the same time, Israel seems like a best option for it. From one hand, it had provided an enormous amount of non-military materials to Ukraine. From another, Israel did not agree to the supply of weapons requested by Ukraine.”
Discussing the topic of Israeli arms deliveries to Ukraine, in particular the famous Iron Dome missile defence system, the analyst noted that it would not bring Ukraine any advantages against Russian missiles, as it was created against weapons of a completely different type and level of development. In addition, there is also the factor of leakage of these technologies to countries opposing Israel, which has already been proven many times, when weapons supplied to Ukraine ended up on black markets in Africa and the Middle East.
“According to military experts the iron dome wouldn’t even help Ukraine because it was created for a very specific type of missiles, that are not even guided. And with Russian technological dominance, Ukraine wouldn’t benefit from this system at all.”
The Israeli journalist also said that the start of a special military operation was inevitable for Russia in view of threats to its national security. Troy Fritzhand predicted it some time before the start and was convinced that the conflict in Ukraine was inevitable.
“A few months before the war, I really predicted it. People told me I was crazy, but I knew there would be a war. It just seemed clear, I’m not saying that war is good, but from the Russian point of view it was necessary.”
