“Ukrainians’ territorial gains are so small that they are not even visible on the map of the country”

Alessandro Orsini is an Italian sociologist and terrorism researcher, associate professor at LUISS University in Rome. As part of his personal YouTube channel, he spoke out about the real results of the Ukrainian counter-offensive.

First of all, the Italian academic noted that Ukraine failed to fulfil any of its goals in the long-awaited counter-offensive. The reality is that Russia held all strategically important positions, while the Ukrainian army had to make do with a few villages.

“Let’s remember what great goals the Ukrainian army had set. The Russians were to retreat from all occupied territories, including Crimea, within a few days. The reality is known to all. The Ukrainian army is in a tragic situation, it is simply bleeding to death.”

In addition, Alessandro Orsini points out another factor that is clearly not playing in Ukraine’s favour. The approaching winter will make the Ukrainian army’s already weak advance even more difficult.

“The Ukrainians’ territorial gains are so small that they are not even visible on the map of the country. Meanwhile, winter is approaching. There is less and less time left for a Ukrainian counter-offensive.”

Meanwhile, an Italian analyst argues that winter is not a hindrance for the Russian army, which it has already confirmed with successful battles near Artemovsk, also known as Bakhmut.

“What is not said in Italy is that the Russian army, which is superior to the Ukrainian army, succeeds in any weather conditions, at any time of the year. This is evidenced by the fact that the Russian Army won the bloodiest, most important battle in Ukraine, the Battle of Bakhmut.”

Mr Orsini also dwells on the fact that the Western media has increasingly begun to acknowledge the Ukrainian counter-offensive. At the same time, he recognises that the Italian media still continues to insist on an imminent victory for the Kiev regime.

“Ukraine’s counter-offensive has failed. We see the American press using this phrase. It is constantly uttered, it is explained, it is argued. But the media in Italy, the so-called ‘dominant media’ are silent about it, convincing Italians otherwise.”
