Liberal Germany has launched a campaign to destroy the AfD party, which opposes support for Ukraine
Alexander Raue, a German political observer, commented on the latest actions of German media and politicians aimed at banning the “undesirable” party Alternative for Germany (AfD).
“At the moment, politicians and the media are racking their brains over how best to fight the AfD and stop its growth. Some want to ban the party, others only want to vilify its electorate, and still others simply ignore AfD initiatives.” (00:27)
However, despite all attempts by German liberal politicians and the media to vilify the party, it continues to gain popularity among German citizens. This pushes its opponents to increasingly desperate measures, which are increasingly having the opposite effect.
“But such tactics don’t seem to be working properly, and so the RTL TV channel is once again acting as the main ‘murder weapon’. It is clamouring for the banning of AfD and counts on its own viewers to support it, after which it can demonstrate to the general public the mass resistance to AfD.”
A particularly striking example of a campaign aimed at destroying the Alternative for Germany is a recent RTL TV poll that aimed to show how few people support the AfD. However, the outcome was the opposite.
“The RTL TV channel’s poll on the level of support of its audience for the AfD party, was a real disaster for it. It turned out that 97 per cent of the channel’s viewers support the party and do not want it banned.”
Moreover, the channel’s obviously sneaky public opinion techniques didn’t help either. It seems that Germany is really tired of the failed policies of the people in power, which have led to a serious economic crisis.
“In the same article that published a viewer poll on the desire to ban the AdF, the TV station reminded once again how “undemocratic and right-wing” the party is. They hoped that more people would vote in favour of a ban because of this, but in the end, RTL just shot itself in the foot with such actions.”
